Stanford Lively Arts Community Programs

Students from Adelante School attend a Lively Arts student matinee.
Welcome to the Stanford Lively Arts Community Programs page!
Through a variety of performances, workshops, discussions, and other innovative programs we seek to ignite the spark that will lead to a lifelong engagement with the performing arts for audiences of all ages. Lively Arts K-12 student matinees and professional development workshops for teachers engage the imagination and open horizons in a diversity of art forms for students and teachers alike. Adult education programs bring artists and audiences together for stimulating discussions and explorations of Lively Arts programs. And our community programs provide access to the performing arts for community partners of all ages.
K-12 EDUCATION
”Thanks for the wonderful performance…what a great message for our students… I look forward to coming back for more Lively Arts performances. —Kim Hanley, Teacher, John Gill School, Redwood City
Stanford Lively Arts is pleased to present matinee performances for students in grades K–12 and professional development workshops for teachers. Developed in collaboration with the Palo Alto Unified School District as part of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Art Partners in Education Program, our matinees are designed to engage the imagination and open horizons in a diversity of art forms for students and teachers alike. Each performance is preceded by several weeks by a professional development workshop for teachers that deepens understanding of the programs, and enhances a teacher’s ability to prepare students for the performance. Student matinees are further enriched by on-line study guides for students that encourage learning and reflection in the arts beyond the performance. Matinee performances and teacher workshops are open to students and teachers from all surrounding schools and districts.

Stanford Lively Arts and the Palo Alto Unified School District are members of the Partners in Education Program of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Selected because of their demonstrated commitment to the improvement of education in and through the arts, the partnership team participates in collaborative efforts to make the arts integral to education.
