Nearly every artist Lively Arts brings to its stages spends time connecting with Stanford students through one of our many campus partners. Lively Arts structures its campus programs with visiting artists to complement and enrich the activities of student organizations, academic departments, arts organizations and other campus institutions.

IN THE RESIDENCES

The Kimball Chamber Series continues in its fifth year, bringing string quartets and soloists from Lively Arts’ season into the intimate lounge of Kimball Hall, Stanford’s new Arts Theme House, for informal performances and discussions.

IN THE CLASSROOM

Campus musicians, composers, dancers, choreographers, actors, theater artists, and filmmakers have opportunities all season to work closely with visiting artists in the classroom and the studio, through master classes, workshops, lectures, classroom discussions and coaching sessions.

ONSTAGE

Campus faculty and student performers join Lively Arts musicians onstage as guest performers, as featured soloists, and as members of campus ensembles like the Stanford Symphony Orchestra and the Stanford Jazz Orchestra. Original student work is featured in the annual Student Works Festival each spring. In addition, students jam with the pros more casually every week at the Monday Night CoHo Jazz Jam Session, presented by the Stanford Jazz Workshop with support from Lively Arts.

BACKSTAGE

The Opening Acts program continues this season in its third year, offering a team of student arts enthusiasts an opportunity to curate ‘opening acts’ for select Lively Arts performances, and interface with Lively Arts staff throughout the year to learn about arts programming, production and audience development.
