Bill Starr

Bill is a native Californian, raised in the Bay Area, and graduated from Menlo-Atherton High School. He has a daughter and son, both married, and treasures family and friends foremost. Being Italian and Jewish, there was never a ‘want’ when leaving the dining room table: He’s been fortunate enough to always be around those who know how to cook, and do it well! He was an Operations Manager in San Francisco at Charles Schwab & Company where his responsibilities included being in charge of over 100 employees and overseeing eight buildings, and maintaining their daily routines.

Bill came to Lively Arts 8 years ago bringing with him a background of musical theater by appearing in over 15 original Broadway shows in New York City. He started directing and choreographing industrial shows for Fortune 500 companies all over the United States, Canada, and Europe as well, including Paris, Vienna, London, Monte Carlo, and Bali, Indonesia.

He has been the recipient of the “Bay Area Theater Critics Award” for his work on “Irving Berlin, In Revue” in San Francisco. He continues to direct and choreograph productions all over the Bay Area with his latest work being “A Chorus Line” in Newark. He also volunteers as a Big Brother in East Palo Alto, and enjoys sharing his experience with young adults, and listening to their views on life, and the times we now live in. He is proud to be a part of Lively Arts, and working with the Usher Team, and helping to keep live theater alive. While on campus, he also assists other departments with their events, such as The Roundtable, the Dalai Lama’s visit, Bill Walsh Memorial Service, Baccalaureate, Commencement, the Aurora Forum series, and many others. Being a part of the Stanford Community keeps his spirits high, and helps to look forward to the challenges the future might bring.
