STANFORD LIVELY ARTS 2009–10 PERFORMING ARTS SEASON:
“ART + INVENTION”

Stanford Lively Arts is pleased to announce an exciting and enriching season of performances for 2009–10. Through the events listed below, and through artist residency and campus/community engagement events still to be announced, we invite our audiences to join us in exploring the theme of “Art + Invention,” both in our own programming and throughout Stanford University.

“In looking at our 2009–10 season, and indeed the role of Stanford Lively Arts within the university’s Arts Initiative, the phrase ‘Art and Invention’ leaps to the foreground,” says Lively Arts’ artistic and executive director Jenny Bilfield. “It’s evocative of the sense of discovery, investigation, personal voice, and incubation of ideas that occurs across all disciplines at Stanford. In addition to the commissioning and the presentation of new work, which remain important priorities, next season the campus will be featured even more prominently in connection with our programming when we inaugurate a new series of opening acts curated by Stanford students. I’m also thrilled we are able to offer Stanford students a flat $10 rate to our performances, thanks to the generosity of longtime donors and the enhanced support of the Stanford Institute for Creativity & the Arts.”
